Tectonics of the Discrete is a seminar focused on exploring discrete aggregations in architectural design through a hands-on and experimental approach. Students develop complex geometries and investigate computational strategies for part-to-whole assemblies. Emphasizing contemporary design theory—particularly the aesthetic and conceptual shift toward the discrete—the course integrates digital modeling with fabrication methods to produce both virtual and physical prototypes. Through lectures, group collaboration, and iterative prototyping, the seminar fosters critical engagement with emerging paradigms in parametric and combinatorial design.
